Strategy

Information videos, but especially a clear calculator on the zkrotimeenergie.cz website, helped households to reduce their consumption. Thanks to it, everyone could find out how much they would save in crowns if they followed simple but expertly verified advice. We have worked to increase people's energy independence and the New Green Savings Light program would not work without making vulnerable groups of the population aware of the program. That's why we trained 3,000 social workers to be able to advise and help people. Our website has helped to do just that. Through regional offices, printed materials, consultations with social workers, as well as mass media, information about the program reached people at risk of energy poverty.

Tools and activities

We have developed a new identity to break away from the language of clerks and create a space to establish trust. After the creation of the website www.zkrotimeenergie.cz and informative videos, we focused in particular on intervening groups of the population in risk through the authorities, social workers and mass media. With the Taming the Energies campaign, we managed to get 200 media outlets with a GRP of 209 (experts generally consider a GRP of more than 150 to be a success), including space on TV Nova, Blesk and novinky.cz. Thus, the program's recipients could learn about the program from the media they consume. However, the social workers and civil servants trained with our tools and website played a decisive role. They actively explained recipes on how to manage energy, which swayed thousands of people who may not have a close relationship with the topic of renewables to apply for the program.

Results

A major result is the successful launch of the NGS light program, which was communicated as part of the campaign: in January 2023, over 10,000 applications for partial renovation of buildings were submitted from households at risk of energy poverty. In just the first week of the program, households applied for over a quarter of a billion in support, a sixth of the budget allocated by the Department for the program.
